Lately Ardo sleep routine has gotten so much better. We put Ardo to sleep around 7:30 every night. He normally goes without a fuss and because he is used to going to sleep at this time everyday, he normally falls asleep quickly. Jerry and I go to sleep around 10 so we get a few hours to ourselves. We clean up, watch tv, catch up on our day, it's really nice having those few hours to ourselves. For awhile Ardo was waking up in the middle of the night, evernight. About 2:30am-3:00am every night/morning Ardo would come to our bed. It's actually okay with Jerry and I because Ardo would jump between us and falls back to sleep til morning. For the past few weeks, he's been sleeping through the night. Only downfall, he's been waking up at 6:00 and he's ready to start the day! When you have to up at 7:00am being awoken at 6:00am is basically torture. Monday morning was ridiculous. Jerry was home morning so I had no idea what time it was when Ardo woke up, I just knew it was early. It was 5am, Ardo wanted to eat, and watch tv and Jerry and I were like two zombies trying to figure out the best way to keep him entertained and still be able to get a few more minutes of sleep.

This is definitely one of those things that moms never talk about. With my small circle of friends with kids we do, but when I was pregnant not one person said, oh they don't sleep well til they're teenagers!! People would try and scare the crap out of me with other useless comments but actual knowledge of -you might have a child that will never sleep well- was unspoken. So I'm trying to figure out which of the two evils I prefer. If I had to choose today I think I would go with getting in our bed in the middle of the night. Those few seconds I wake up to make sure he's covered and he has Henry don't compare to making him eggs at 6:30am, which is what I did today!
Sorry there's no pictures, I'm not that kind of blogger that can bust out the camera before my contacts are in. Just imagine a zombie mom and very energetic little boy, that's us!

Description of Photo Friday night Jerrys co-workers invited us to go bowling. They have two small children and I love play dates with both adults and kids. We went to Round 1 a bowling arcade place. I had a feeling it was going to be a little crowded but I had no idea just HOW crowded. We got there around 7:30 there was a 45 minutes wait for a lane and we had 3 small kids. Not a great combo. We decided to let the kids play the arcade games instead and call it a night. While we were figuring out what to do Jerry took Ardo to watch people bowling. He immediately became fascinated with the bowling balls crashing into the pins. He must have told us a million times about the balls crashing into the pins. Jerry felt so bad we didn't get to bowl especially with what an interest Ardo took in it. You know with small kids you just never know how they're going to like something. Saturday morning we woke up early and took Ardo bowling. Oh man did he LOOOOVE it. They gave him his own little pair of bowling shoes. We were trying to decide to get two lanes and one lane bumper bowling or one lane and just help Ardo. Then the girl at the bowling ally told us about a "dinosaur." The dinosaur is a little gem used like a slide for bowling. You place the bottom part on the very tip of the lane, put the ball on top and push it. Generally the ball stayed straight and Ardo hit his pins every time. I couldn't get over how much Ardo loved to bowl. Without realizing it until it happened, Ardo was also taught a patience lesson because he had to wait his turn each time. Any kind of patience on a two year old is worth celebrating! This weekend I had my eye set on one thing, buying a table for our kitchen. Our apartment is very small, in the beginning we decided to do without a table. It probably wasn't the best idea. If it were just Jerry and I that would be one thing, but we aren't doing Ardo any favors on sitting at a table and finishing his meal. A while ago we went to Ikea and saw the perfect little table for our kitchen. We kept telling each other we were gonna get it and this weekend we decided to take the plunge. I tell Ardo we're going to Ikea like its Chuck E. Cheese. Really, it kinda is, but for me too. Lets be honest, I could spend hours looking at everything and trying to fit new shelves or whatever in our small space. But we tried to stay on track and ventured over to the table section. I see that pretty little table I've been eyeing forever but I notice something. The chairs that go with the table for the color I wanted are bigger than the other chairs they have. Then I noticed the chairs that came with the table don't push into the table all the way to make the table compact. They would be sticking out a lot when we weren't using them. Soooo I had to pass it up and say no. I was so mad at myself for not checking these details out before we decided on the table. So now we still have no kitchen table and I'm back to square one....I hate being in that square!

i am such a sore loser

Description of Photo The picture above was taken BEFORE we started playing.

Want to know a secret about me? I'm really really competitive. I'm so competitive I rarely play games. I just can't take the losing. I hate to lose, I hate when my teams lose. I'm the sorest of sore losers. Occasionally I'll play and game, I try and tell myself it's for fun but really I want to win. New Year's Eve was one of the those times I told myself I was going to play for fun. Helen (my mother in law) bought a new game for us called Battle of the Sexes. It sounded fun and I love games when there are teams because it makes for a much for exciting time. Battle of the Sexes started out fun. This is how it's played, each team has questions to ask the opposing team. Women have womenlike questions to ask the men and men have menlike questions to ask the women. The questions started out very even. They were questions that men or women would know. As the game went on tho the questions for the women (in my opinion) started getting harder, but the mens questions stayed the same.

Mens question: What is this device? It was the picture of a nail dryer.
Men: Nail Dryer

Womens questions: What is the rope on a bow and arrow called when you want your bow to do such and such?
Women (faces look puzzled): How the hell should we know, you guys don't even know that!!!

The men themselves didn't know some of the harder history or bow and arrow questions we got. Oh yeah and there were history questions. Why that game would think men are history whizzes, I have no idea. Oh also when I play games, I'm no longer married or have any friends on the opposing team. I was arguing with Jerry over rules, I'm a every man for himself kinda player or every team. Do you see why I named this post sore loser. So we lost, and BOY was I pissed! I think because we played against mostly husbands, we've taught them all way to much about a womens way. When we started the game we didn't have any wagers but when we lost the men said we had to take shots and without blinking an eye I said I wasn't going to take S!!! (you can fill in what S word I used) Just when you thought I couldn't get any sorer :). I start throwing S bombs. I've concluded that at 29 this is just how I am.
I'm responsible with my soreness in that (as I mentioned before) I often will pass on playing a game because I know me. So there's a little secret about me.
Our pajama party was great tho, it was so nice to have a low key-dance party in our pajamas to bring in the New Year. Ardo stayed up til 12:30am. Poor little guy he was tired but didn't want to take the plunge and fall asleep and that was fine by us. I wanted him to stay up this year. He woke up at 8:30am on New Years Day, I was hoping for 9am but I'll take it! Hope you had a very Happy New Year! Description of Photo Right after we brought in the New Year, I made up with him by then. I'm just a wee bit tired. Description of Photo Ardo sporting his 2014 shades!
